Brothers:

I would first like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the Burlington Knights of Columbus as your
Grand Knight. It will be my pleasure to act as the Council’s representative, and as a spokesman for the
organization for the coming year. I have a dedicated, ambitious group of officers, and with your help and
encouragement, I anticipate an active and prosperous time ahead.

I would like to outline my plans for the coming year in the following paragraphs.

First and foremost, I would like to recruit new members.  To do this, I recommend you discuss the benefits and
rewards of being a Knight with your friends. Stress the camaraderie and benefits to the individual as well as the
community. New members will bring fresh ideas into the Council, and new hopes for the future.  I encourage all to
sponsor a new member and follow them through their Degrees.

Second, I would like to encourage more present members to become involved with the day-to-day activities of the
Council. We have many wonderful, energetic individuals who give of their time, but I think we can do better, and I
challenge you to offer your assistance. There are Sunday football games and dinner socials, charitable community
events and many more things to help out with. Please let me know if you’d be interested in lending a hand in any
capacity.

I’d like to thank the members who donated their time at the recent DARE Day and Pride Day events held on the
Burlington common. The few hours of time it takes to volunteer for these important local activities helps to maintain
the fabric of our community, and taking time out of your busy schedules is appreciated.

Finally, a party is in the works for the near future, organized by the Ladies Committee; when I have more information
I will pass it along to you. If there are any other members’ wives that would like to help out, please give me a call or
email me.

In closing, my door is always open. Please feel free to come to me with new ideas, suggestions, complaints, or
just to talk.  I look forward to serving as your Grand Knight, and welcome the opportunity.
